A communiqué from Adv. K Chandrika, Mayor, Corporation of Thiruvananthapuram said that using the RFID, the Corporation can collect up-to-date information on collection of solid waste, identification of households, enhance and speedup the issuance of Occupancy and Residency Certificates, etc. This will also help to improve the handling of grievances and suggestions from citizens in more scientific and speedy manner.
The RFID tag marked ‘Maxenna’, will contain a Radio Frequency Identifier with details of house and households, which is equivalent to the sensors installed in Textiles and super markets to prevent theft of goods. The officials from Corporation or Clean Well unit members from Kudumbashree will swipe the reader on the installed Maxeenna tag at the door steps. At that time the GPS system will pass the information to the server installed in the Corporation office. Thus the Corporation can effectively monitor the successful collection of solid waste, completion of site visits by Corporation Officials, etc.
The Mayor has requested the support from people to cooperate with the Corporation personnel for installation of RFID tags. She has clarified that the privacy of citizens will not be hurt in any form by using this mechanism.
MAXrad Software (Maxsoft), a Bangalore based IT services company has been awarded the order for RFID based solid waste collection management by Trivandrum Corporation. MAXenna is a full subsidiary of Maxsoft and is engaged in the R&D of state-of-the art RF & Embedded products for the applications in RFID & Industrial automations.
