Gauba was speaking at state-level workshop on citizen-centric e-governance here today. Madhya Pradesh Electronics Development Chairman Premshankar Verma was the chief guest. Secretary to Chief Secretary and Secretary Information Technology Hari Ranjan Rao was also present on the occasion.
Dwelling in detail on the National e-Governance Programme, Gauba said that electronic delivery of services will put an effective check on corruption and irregularities. He said that e-District Project forms an important part of the National e-Governance Programme in which Madhya Pradesh will be focused since basic facilities for it are available here.
Premshankar Verma said that e-governance is vital for accelerating pace of development. Madhya Pradesh Electronics Development Corporation has been appointed nodal agency for this work. E-governance brings about work efficiency as well as transparency. He informed that over 30 lakh complaints of common people of Madhya Pradesh were redressed through call centre. He said that e-governance is meaningful only when its benefits percolate utpo last persons in the last row.
Secretary Information Technology Hari Ranjan Rao discussed best e-governance and information technology practices in Madhya Pradesh and future road map in detail and also made a presentation on the subject. He threw light on the activities of MAP-IT, Electronics Development Corporation, NIC and MP Online. He informed that 9,254 common service centres have been set up in Madhya Pradesh under PPP mode. Rao informed that a new Information Technology Policy has been implemented in the state under which lands have been made available to IT companies on concessional rates.
NESCOM vice-president Rama Vedshri also expressed her views on the occasion. Several experts of IT sector participated in the workshop. A presentation was made by Principal Consultant of National e-Governance Department Rajesh Narang.
