For all those who have spent long hours trying to send applications or make payments on the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) site, there is good news.
Your wait may soon be a matter of the past as the civic body mulls initiating an e-governance project worth Rs39.9 crore to ease your woes as well as upgrade the setup.
As scheduled, the project will include significant changes to the existing website. Speaking to dna, deputy municipal commissioner for e-governance, DP Desai said, “We want to renew the entire e-governance set-up. All the applications and services available on AMC’s website will be renewed and upgraded. Around 10 citizen-centric modules like birth and death registrations, payment of property tax, shop registrations, health license will be improved while some of the office-centric modules for engineers are age old technologies.” For this, the work of upgrading and renewing the e-governance functioning has been allotted to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) which will be carried out under the Jawahar Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM).
He also said that the AMC is planning to create simplified applications to ensure a faster complaint and payment process on website. “Presently, all the applications function through different links and a citizen has to logout and login every time to avail a different service. But through this project, we want to bring all the services under one platform for the convenience of citizens,” added Desai.
The proposal will be discussed in standing committee meeting of AMC, scheduled to be held today and is likely to be approved.
