New Delhi Municipal Council on Friday launched its first police assistance kiosk, under the smart city project, near AIIMS. People can file e-FIRs at these kiosks, even without the help of police personnel. These hi-tech kiosks would remain open to the public 24x7 and it would be manned by a dedicated lady police officer, along with other supporting staff.

NDMC chairman Naresh Kumar said the idea behind the the kiosk was to provide police-related services at a single point, saving vital time of the public.

Police commissioner Amulya Patnaik said theses kiosks would help people file e-FIRs or theft complaints, without going to police stations. “We have chosen the area around AIIMS since a lot of people come here and it is at a distance from the nearest police station,” he said.
