A private company assigned the task of third party quality assurance (TPQA) by Lucknow Smart City Limited approached Lucknow University’s faculty of engineering and technology for third-party quality assurance consultancy work for projects worth Rs 83 crore.

Teachers from the university’s computer science engineering department will help the company in all information technology-related work. An agreement for the same was signed by Lucknow University and the private company on Thursday.

“Our faculty will be required to do all software-related work for the smart city project. For example, LU will be helping in digitising records of public libraries and others,” said the Dean of Engineering faculty, Professor AK Singh.

“Lucknow University's engineering faculty was established six years ago and has made a name for itself in terms of having an excellent faculty and students. As many as 19 teachers of our computer engineering department will be providing their services for the Smart City project,” he added.

“This agreement will give a big boost to the academia-Industry partnership. In this way, not only the university but also society will receive its benefit directly,” said vice-chancellor Prof AK Rai.
