A list of 33,718 Bahraini families who will benefit from the BD50 anti-inflation allowance was published last night.

It was announced by the e-Government Agency based on criteria set by ministerial and parliamentary committees, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej. The agency's technical committee has been able to obtain the banking details of only 18,756 families. The remaining 14,962 have been urged to update their banking details at centres to be announced by the Social Development Ministry soon or through the e-government website www.e.gov.bh from tomorrow.

Beneficiaries include government and private sector employees, pensioners, citizens registered with the Social Development Ministry and the unemployed who are registered with the Labour Ministry. They must have a monthly income of less than BD1,500 and must not hold commercial registrations or own businesses.

Citizens whose monthly income is unknown will be handled by special committees to be set up by the Social Development Ministry. The parliament will discuss the allowance when it convenes for its weekly session on Tuesday.
