Experts met in Bahrain to discuss the UN eGovernment indexes during a workshop held at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence and Spa. The Global Expert Workshop was organised by the eGovernment Authority (eGA) and attended by representatives from 17 countries, the UN, International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the information technology sector. During the two-day event they spoke about the telecommunication infrastructure, human capital, open data and eParticipation.

"Ensuring sustainable development at an international level and contributing to the enhancement of the UN eGovernment Survey Report is a milestone that we can successfully achieve through this workshop," said eGA chief executive Mohammed Ali Al Qaed. Geneva-based ITU Telecommunications Development Bureau ICT data and statistics division head Dr Susan Teltscher gave an overview of the ITU's work on telecommunication infrastructure indicators. Unesco Institute for Statistics Statistical Cluster adviser Dr Yousif Ismail focused on human capital indicators, while Copenhagen Business School professor Kim Norman presented a paper on open data.
