The minister outlined the development of the National e-Participation Strategy as well as the way the official authorities and non-governmental parties deal with cutting edge technologies and new media. The Ministry of Information Affairs has been assigned to coordinate with the e-Government Authority in implementing the national strategy and upgrading media and cyber communication.
Citing the directives of Deputy Premier and Chairman of the High Committee for Information Technology and Telecommunications Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa, she stressed the ministry's ongoing efforts to promote human resources, upgrade ICT and telecommunications competences, improve law provisions and develop Governmental services in cooperation with concerned parties.
"The National e-Participation Strategy, the first regional and international initiative of its kind, aims at engaging citizens as participants in decision-making", she said, stressing the need to optimise the use of modern digital technologies to promote knowledge-based economy, which would have a positive impact on individual corporate and governmental interest.
The two sides discussed cooperation with the e-Government Authority in order to keep abreast of latest media and communication trends. She pointed out the establishment of a new media directorate affiliated with the Information Affairs Authority (IAA), which would contribute to promoting the quality of media content, bolstering contact with the external world though cutting edge and innovative technologies. eGA electronic services director Ahmed Bouhzaa and marketing and awareness assistant director Ziad Asfoor attended the meeting.
