In a significant move to convert all existing documents and maps into a digital format, to enable the implementation of Ras Al Khaimah's e-Government initiative, Ras Al Khaimah's e-Government Authority has appointed FedEx Kinko's as a key partner.

They will be responsible for converting all hardcopy documents into a digital format, pursuant to total implementation of the government's e-initiative.

Announcing the appointment, Dr. Hashem Ar-Refaei, Director General of RAK e-Government Authority and IT Adviser to the Government of Ras Al Khaimah, said: 'His Highness, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah is a visionary and an innovator, and it is his vision to create a seamless, easily accessible and transparent form of government. This will not only make the life of the residents of Ras Al Khaimah easier but will also attract investors to Ras Al Khaimah in droves. We are pleased to appoint FedEx Kinko's for this assignment as the successful completion of this work will result in the streamlining and conversion of all government processes into an electronic format, enhancing overall efficiency and fast delivery of government services to the general public.'

Elated by winning this prestigious contract, Mr. Radwan Malas, General Manager of FedEx Kinko's, UAE said: 'We are today witnessing a landmark event in the history of this region and FedEx Kinko's is proud to be a part of this revolution. The company is a world leader in Document Management Systems and Services and has key strengths that enable it to deliver a quality solution on time, crucial to the timely and effective implementation of RAK e-Government initiative. We are confident of completing this project successfully in partnership with the e-Government Authority.'

The contract awards FedEx Kinko's the responsibility of digitizing and archiving all government documents, records and maps into an electronic format and archiving and referencing them into an electronic library so they can be accessed and used when needed.

Mr. Mohamed Moharram, Regional Manager, FedEx Kinko's Middle East, elaborated that the company is represented in the Middle East by the Kuwait based Al Kharafi Group, an international conglomerate with global operations and annual revenues exceeding US$ 3.5 billion.

He also stated 'With presence in the UAE and Kuwait, the company plans to expand across the GCC and the Levant region. Considering the opportunities ahead of us in the Middle East, we will broaden our reach and expand the products and services we offer. We will enhance our team members' careers in the region with new challenges and responsibilities to better serve our customers.
