While the free zones in Dubai are expected to create 150,000 new jobs during the next 3 years, Dubai International Financial Center, Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City together are expected to create additional 135,000 new jobs.
Dubai e-Government’s strategic goal is to provide 90% of Government services through electronic channels, including Web, mobile devices and fixed line telephones, by the end of 2007.
E-illiteracy no longer exists in Dubai, since the e-transformation process has led to transparency and social interaction. In light of Dubai’s e-Government, the principle of customer satisfaction and high quality has become widespread and Dubai has become a symbol of the knowledge renaissance.
Today, Dubai Municipality provides more than 381 online services as part of the e-Government initiative and this includes 238 transactional services, 50 interactive services and 93 informational services in the fields of engineering, environment, planning, public health and finance.
Up till March 2006, more than 16,779 registered business users from 6,461 companies and nearly 5,000 public users benefited from e-Municipality services.
Dubai was ranked 18th among the top 20 cities in terms of digital governance, making it 1st among its Arab peers, by Rutgers University (State of New Jersey).
