Delegation studies emirate’s leadership experience in the field of eGovernance and e-Knowledge development

A Kuwaiti delegation comprising information technology specialists from the General Secretariat of the Cabinet of Kuwait recently visited Dubai to gain first hand information about the digital transformation in the emirate and learn from Dubai eGovernment’s experience. The delegation commended the advances made by Dubai in the recent years with regard to the provision of electronic services and creation of a robust eGovernance system.

Salem Al Shair, eServices Director, Dubai eGovernment, who welcomed the Kuwaiti delegation, shed light on the challenges overcome by Dubai eGovernment during the process of implementing an effective system of electronic governance. The visit by the Kuwaiti delegation is part of Dubai eGovernment’s ongoing program to enlighten delegates from visiting countries on the full scope of eGovernance.

“We are glad to share our knowledge and experience with other countries in the region as they look to strengthen their eGovernance platform. In the recent years, the Kuwaiti Government has taken several steps to embrace latest technological practices that are facilitating a transition towards electronic governance and we are keen to provide our total support and guidance to them to help them succeed,” said Salem Al Shair.

Dubai eGovernment officials also made a presentation to the visiting Kuwaiti delegation on the strategies, plans, projects and future aims of Dubai eGovernment, as well as the steps to be taken in this domain to attain a full eGovernment status.

The Kuwaiti delegation was also involved in various discussions with the Dubai eGovernment team, primarily to facilitate an exchange of experiences and information which would in turn ensure the rapid development of an eGovernment system in Kuwait.

Through Dubai eGovernment’s comprehensive web portal, citizens, residents, visitors and business enterprises can access more than 2,000 electronic services, including payment of Municipality fees, applying for visas for friends and relatives, renewing health cards, company registration, among others.
