The move comes under the directions of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to restructure the government organisations and departments in Dubai and provide electronic services under the umbrella of Dubai e-government.
Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police, on Tuesday launched the new device, which has become available at Dubai Police’s Traffic Department and police stations in Dubai.
He said the strategy drawn by Dubai Police for creative transformation in providing its services electronically is achieving excellent results.
Motorists will be able to pay fines using credit cards at the traffic department or any Dubai police station or the website of Dubai e-government www.dubai.ae
The device is installed in a keyboard, which directly reads the credit card’s number and deducts the fine amount. Colonel Nader Fikri, Acting Director of Dubai Police’s Electronic Services Department, said customers now can pay their fines using credit cards through payment centres or the voice system IVR, or kiosks in shopping malls in addition to Dubai Police’s website to ease the payments of traffic fines.
