Salem Khamis Al Shair, the Director General of GIA, told Gulf News on the sidelines of the first Federal e-Government programme forum - which discussed the strategic plan of the programme - that he expects ministries to be ready to provide acceptable electronic services as part of the federal e-Government portal within three years.
"The services provided through the planned e-portal will become comprehensive to an extent that there will be no need for intermediary between clients and government bodies such as the typing offices, in three years time," said Al Shair.
In the past there were several attempts taken by the government to activate a unified e-portal but did not succeed, the latest was in 2005 when the Ministry of Finance and Industry launched the UAE e-Portal. Currently the e-portal website is under construction.
"This time we are determined to succeed," Al Shair said.
