During the visit, the GIA officials gave two presentations to the guest delegation; one on government services database system (Khadamate) and the other on the package of cloud computing services that the GIA started to provide to government entities with the aim of minimizing cost on one hand and enhancing the opportunities of integration and connectivity among these entities at the level of infrastructures, technological platforms, practices and procedures on the other.
Welcoming the delegation, Salem Al Shaer said: "We are happy about this effective and fruitful communication between the Federal eGovernment Program and RAK eGovernment. We believe that such communication is an embodiment of the partnership between federal and local government entities aimed at consolidating the bases of knowledge-based society in our dear country."
Al Shaer added: "all efforts in the upcoming stage will focus on highlighting the noble values of federal work in line with the UAE Vision 2021 launched by our prudent leadership which states under its four principles that we are "United in Ambition and Responsibility, United in Destiny, United in Knowledge and United in Prosperity."
Al Shaer pointed out that the UAE unified portal would be launched shortly and would incorporate hundreds of federal government services in addition to the services of the local governments including RAK eGovernment.
The finishing touches for the portal are currently being put simultaneously with efforts to activate the full eGovernment programme including the provision of cloud computing services to ministries and government authorities and corporations.
"We are determined not to miss any chance for partnering with our brothers in government entities to fulfill the focal slogan of the UAE Vision 2021 calling for the UAE to be among the best countries of the world by its golden jubilee in 2021, God willing", he said.
Meanwhile, Eng. Al Sayyah thanked the GIA members, particularly Al Shaer, for their effort to strengthening co-operation and co-ordination with RAK eGovernment.
"RAK eGovernment is set to diversify its strategic partnerships in the eGovernment field with all government and local corporations inside and outside Ras Al Khaimah with the aim of integrating with the UAE eGovernments in general and achieving the priorities of Ras Al Khaimah Government in particular. Based on this, we have been very keen on benefiting from the successful eGovernment experiences, one of which is the communication and co-ordination with the GIA for a strategic partnership that supports both entities and allows exchange of information. We have actually received a warm welcome and limitless support from the GIA and this is hoped to be the first step on the path of our co-operation", he said.
The GIA is geared up for participation in Gitex Technology Week 2010 in which it will launch the federal government portal with a package of cloud computing services oriented to the government entities in general.
