The new figures compare to a total of AED 1.1 billion through 835,095 transactions in the first half of 2010. As an enabler of customers to pay for their bills and government service electronically, ePay is a payment service provided by the Dubai eGovernment on their website, www.dubai.ae, and allows electronic payment trhough credit or debit cards.
In the first half of this year, Dubai Customs, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and Dubai Health Authority were the top three governmen tentities in terms of electronically collected amounts.
“These results clearly indicate the favourable pace of eTransformation in Dubai and also reflect the increasing adoption of ePay as a preferred mode of payment to complete government transactions on one hand and the confidence shown by customers in the efficiency and safety of this option on the other,” said Ahmed Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai eGovernment. Credit card payments were the customers’ top payment option, collecting nearly AED 1.4 billion, while debit card transactions increased 23,000 transactions in the first half of 2010 to 120,000 transactions in the corresponding period this year.
