The federal portal of the UAE government (www.government.ae) has achieved the first place among the six GCC government portals at the second GCC eGovernment Conference and Award held in Kuwait.

Various UAE government entities also bagged most of the GCC eGovernment Awards by achieving the first place in three out of the six categories of the Award.

Other top achievers include Dubai Health Authority (DHA) which achieved first place for Best eContent and Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) which achieved first place in the Best eService category (G2C). Appreciation Awards were presented to Zakat Fund for Best public eService and the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) for Best Portal in the Development Sector for its portal www.gcaa.gov.ae.

The Conference was opened under the auspices of H. H. Sheikh Nasser Mohammed Al Ahmed Al Sabah, Prime Minister of Kuwait who was represented by Salem Mutheeb Ahmad Al Uthayna, Minister of Electricity and Water and acting Minister of Information. UAE ambassador to Kuwait Hassan Salem Al Khayal was amongst the dignitaries present at the event.

Salem Khamis Al Shair Al Suwaidi, Director General, Emirates eGovernment received the Award for the Best Federal Portal from Al Uthayna. Al Suwaidi expressed his delight on these accomplishments which coincide with the 40th anniversary of the UAE.

He said, “We present this achievement as a token of our allegiance to President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council, Rulers of the Emirates”.

Emirates eGovernment had received 34 nominations from 21 government entities in the UAE in the six categories of the Award. The evaluation committee nominated 15 projects from 13 federal and local government entities to represent the UAE in the Award.

At the conference Dr. Basem Shahin, Content Development Manager, Emirates eGovernment was honoured for his part in drafting the final statement. Ibrahim El Badawi, Strategic Planning Specialist, Emirates eGovernment was honoured for carrying out his role as a member of the Jury.
