The move came in line with ADSIC "e-citizen" Program to enable Abu Dhabi citizens benefit from government e-services.
Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, ADEC Director General and Rashed Lahej Al-Mansouri, ADSIC Director General signed the MoU at ADEC HQ.
Dr. Al-Khaili on the occasion said: "We are witnessing an era of remarkable technology advancement in various fields. Many transactions and communications today are conducted through the use of technology. Abu Dhabi seeks to enhance advanced e-systems, disseminate e-knowledge and focus on its effectiveness." He added "ADEC pays great importance to the development of various e-systems that contribute to increasing operational efficiencies and reducing time '&' effort with regard to daily transactions of staff, parents and students through the use of ERP, eSIS, GIS and Scholarship System".
ADEC Director General pointed out that the agreement has contributed to the formulation of an effective process to achieve the goals of training parents to use computer '&' internet and enable them to take advantage of e-services. "Our objective is to familiarize parents with eSIS which will allow them to communicate with school to matters pertaining to students academic performance, achievements, behavior etc." Dr. Al-Khaili indicated that ADEC will support ADSIC through the provision of computer-equipped training rooms to train parents. "ADEC has organized workshops before the end of current school year to introduce the program, its importance and objectives. These workshops were highly appreciated by parents".
Al-Mansouri said that working closely with ADEC will help promote the digital culture extensively in Abu Dhabi, as the essential foundation for transformation and shifting into a knowledge-based society. "ADSIC is eager to coordinate with all governmental institutions concerned to develop '&' launch pilot initiatives in order to enhance digital knowledge and enable citizens best utilize government e-services. Building such strategic partnership with ADEC, through which we will expand the scope of e-citizen program, will lead to eliminate digital illiteracy in Abu Dhabi and allow everybody to keep pace with the rapid technological developments and enhance the use of e-government services effectively and efficiently," he added.
Starting September, ADEC and ADSIC, in collaboration with ICDL GCC Foundation will be organizing a series of training courses over 2-3 weeks on "e-citizen" program addressed to parents in a number of ADEC schools '&' training centers in Abu Dhabi, Al-Ain and Al-Gharbia.
The program will help parents surf the net, exchange information in various areas such as news, banking, shopping, education, etc.
