CDA website revamped to include six new e-services

Whether it’s registering a social club, seeking professional psychological help, or reporting human rights violations, Dubai residents can now access these services from Community Development Authority (CDA) with just a click of a mouse.

CDA has revamped its website to include six new e-services into its portal including the Social Benefits, El Kayt programme, and Facilities and Venues Booking for UAE nationals. Other e-services for the public have likewise been added such as Social Service Provider, Human Rights Complaints, and Application Enquiry.

The e-service on human rights complaints is expected to give a big boost to CDA’s campaign on raising awareness on safeguarding human rights launched last month with the theme “Without humanity there can be no humankind.”

“We don’t have the exact numbers but we do know that after the Human Rights Sector launched its awareness campaign last month awareness has increased about linking human rights with CDA. The number of calls inquiring about our services has increased,” Dr Omar Al Shamsi, executive director of the human rights sector at CDA, told Gulf News.

In 2010, CDA received 59 human rights complaints which increased to 114 in 2011. From January until end of August this year, CDA received 75 complaints whose nature varied from human trafficking to disputes between nationalities, among others.

Once the complaints are received, an expert team communicates with the plaintiffs to verify and clarify the complaints confidentially and take all the necessary actions to resolve them.

“For the human rights complaints, we conduct primary investigation first. A specialist will get in touch with them within one week to hold a meeting with them. Those that do not fall under human rights, we will guide them and advise them where to go,” said Huda Hussain Saleh, head of event section at CDA.
