Rehab Lootah, Director of the Development of Government Services, said the e-citizen programme is open to both UAE nationals and expatriates living in Dubai.
More than 1,055 people, 80 per cent of whom are expatriates of various nationalities, have applied to obtain the membership of the e-citizen programme launched recently by Dubai Government. Applicants wishing to get the e-citizen membership card are trained by the Dubai e-Government, which organises three-month training courses to get them qualified for the membership.
The training course teaches applicants how to use the computer and internet and e-business.
Anyone can apply and obtain the e-citizen card for Dh300 or wait for a free-of-charge offer.
People with e-citizen identity card will be able to deal electronically and receive e-documents.
Holders of this card will be able to send and receive documents electronically as well as pay bills.
You can find more information about the e-citizen scheme, including details of the course and how to apply, by visiting www.dubai.ae/en.portal
