Gauteng’s department of finance has launched an online invoice service for government suppliers, which it says cuts the submission time from 60 days to under two days.
The Gauteng Department of Finance has launched an online invoice service targeting government suppliers that cuts invoice submission time to provincial government departments from 60 days to less than two days.
“With the new system, suppliers can submit anytime, 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” department spokesperson John Sukazi said.
The online service was launched by the Gauteng Finance MEC Barbara Creecy on Monday.
Provincial Treasury has invited all registered government suppliers to attend the Electronic Invoicing Services Supplier Information and On-boarding Sessions at its offices on 75 Fox Street.
There are 357 suppliers who are in the process of being uploaded on the service.
The Thusong Centre at Maponya Mall has been migrated onto the fibre optic Gauteng Broadband Network (GBN).
“All provincial government departments will be migrated to GBN by end of December this year.
“The speed and size of the network will enable a new generation of e-government services to run on the network,” Sukazi said.
Last year, the department allocated R250 million for the building of the GBN.
“During the course of this year 24 Thusong Centres across the province will be connected to the service to ensure those who do not have private electronic access are not excluded,” he said.
