ICT Africa has announced the creation of an ICT in Africa events page on their website.
With the booming ICT industry in Africa, comes an increasing need for industry players to get together and share developments, challenges and lessons learnt by others within Africa and elsewhere in the world. In order to successfully connect African countries to one another and to the rest of the world, it is imperative that governments, international institutions and national operators deploying ICT networks throughout Africa collaborate on how to connect their individual networks to one another. There is no better place to foster such collaborations than through ICT events that take place throughout the African continent.
There has been a myriad of ICT events happening throughout Africa lately. They include high level government summits, conferences and exhibitions, training workshops or seminars and vendor product training sessions. The events are organised by a wide range of organisations such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU); United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO); Commonwealth Telecommunication Organisation (CTO); continental organisations such as the African Union (AU), the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) and the African Telecommunications Union (ATU); government departments responsible for ICTs; professional organisations such as the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE); private local and international event organisers; university departments and ICT equipment vendors.
All those interested in the African ICT sector need a one stop place to locate all the events happening in Africa and decide on the most appropriate ones to participate in. This is where ICT Africa comes in. “If an ICT event is happening in Africa, then you will find it on ictafrica.info”, said Nyaradzo Mafolo, co-founder of the ICT Africa website. “We are delighted that most people interested in ICT in Africa use our ICT Africa Events site to find events happening in the continent and decide on the most appropriate ones to participate in. Many organisers of African ICT events regularly visit our event page to enter their events free of charge or to update event information on the site”, said Nyaradzo.
