eGovernment Forschung seit 2001 | eGovernment Research since 2001
The City of Burlington is looking for input from residents about their online services, after City Council approved a new e-Government policy earlier this month. This process will help the city to make online interaction with city easier and more convenient for citizens and businesses in Burlington.

This e-Government Strategy will create a list of services that will help enhance citizen engagement with the City and enhance the services delivered to city residents, while aiming to improve the accessibility, efficiency and convenience of city services.

There are three stages to this project. The first stage was approval by City Council. The second is the ongoing evaluation of the proposed e-Government services along with public and staff consultation. The third and final stage will be the implementation of the chosen strategy.

The feedback that the city collects in this second phase will help the city find out what needs improvement and will help to select the best e-Government services for the public.

“e-Government is really about creating a positive customer experience. We do this by using technology to enable the delivery of city services in a way that’s more user-friendly, timely and convenient, said Christine Swenor, Director of IT Services at the City of Burlington. “Asking the community for input will help tailor the online services we currently offer and create new applications that will allow us to better meet the needs of the citizens we serve.”

Some of the city’s current online services include: some permit applications, applying or renewing dog licenses, registration for recreation programs and parking ticket payment.

To gather feedback, the City of Burlington is asking residents to complete an eleven question survey, either online or on paper. Questions on the survey range from what kind of services are available or should be available on the city’s website to the method and frequency of use.

The survey also asks for volunteers to participate in an upcoming series of focus groups, that will take place between June 27th and July 8th.

The online survey is available by visiting the city’s website www.burlington.ca.

If you prefer a paper copy, they are available at city hall or any municipal community centre, library or pool. Paper surveys can be submitted in person, or by mail to City Hall at 426 Brant St., P.O. Box 5013, Burlington, L7R 3Z6. Mailed surveys should be addressed to the attention of Frances Grano, Manager, Strategic IT Service Delivery.

The deadline to participate in the survey is June 30, 2011.
