Now on its 11th year, the SCSE provides a platform to promote Taiwan's range of smart city and net-zero technologies and innovations.

Jointly organized by the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), the Kaohsiung City government, and the National Development Council (NDC), the 11th Smart City Summit and Expo (SCSE) held March 19–22 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2, and March 21–23 at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center put into the spotlight Taiwan’s smart city and net-zero city solutions developments over the past decade, and how Taiwan is collaborating with countries worldwide to advance smart city and net-zero transition initiatives.

Kaohsiung City is setting a new standard for sustainable urban development & better healthcare services by leveraging 5G and AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) technologies. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Kaohsiung’s vision for a smart city environment prioritizes both digital transformation and social well-being.

This ambitious plan integrates cutting-edge technologies like 5G and AIoT into public and private sectors, fostering digital governance and propelling industrial transformation. By promoting value-added traditional industries and establishing a hub for international export, Kaohsiung aims to create a unprecedented economic landscape.

Iveda is working with the government to design and install a video command, communication, and control system, anticipated to be completed by year end 2023.

Hundreds of government officials from 37 countries are to participate in next month’s Smart City Summit and Expo to exchange views on topics such as sustainable development and net zero emissions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said yesterday.

The events, focusing on the themes digital and green transformation, are to take place from March 19 to 21 at the Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei and from March 21 to March 23 at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center.

Resilient smart cities are cities that have the ability to absorb, recover, and prepare for future economic, environmental, social, and institutional shocks.

One of the goals of Taiwan's 2050 net-zero emissions pathway is to promote resilient, smart cities through research and development in key areas such as urban development and regeneration. Taiwan’s goals are directly tied to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Importantly, one of the 17 SDGs is “Sustainable Cities and Communities”.
