The Nigeria police has introduced a Biometric Central Motor Registration (BCMR) aimed at detecting crimes committed with the use of vehicles. The police authorities expressed confident that with this facility crimes would be reduced in the country.

The event which took place at the Force Headquarters main car park was attended by stakeholders in the sector, among which was the Minister of Police Affairs, Caleb Olubolade.

The minister who also represented the president said the gadgets should be promptly integrated, so as to maximise the desired positive impact to the society, and added that proper maintenance was also needed to sustain its durability.

Speaking earlier, the Inspector General of Police(IGP) Mr. Hafiz Ringim stated that the Central Motor Registration (CMR) was established by the Nigeria Police in the year 1958,which is in line with the provision of section 30e of the Police Act, which provides that there should be “ the Maintenance of motor vehicles traffic.
