Transforming Government since 2001
Professional librarians and information managers from all parts of the country yesterday converged on Ibadan, Oyo State capital, to brainstorm on how to further advance the application of E-governance in the various states of the federation including Federal Government’s agencies and parastatals.

The week-long workshop with the theme “E-Library Services as a Tool for Achieving the Transformation Agenda in Nigeria” is holding under the auspices of the Librarian’s Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) in conjunction with the Kenneth Dike Library of the University of Ibadan.

Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of LRCN, Dr. Victoria Okojie, told the gathering that “the workshop was carefully put together to engage minds with current global information management requirements to enhance service delivery and facilitate development in every facet of our national economy and in order to support the goals of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s transformation agenda and vision 20:20:20.”

Addressing participants, chairman at the occasion, Professor David Elaturoti of the Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan, assured that the University of Ibadan would continue to do everything possible to support librarianship in Nigeria with a view to putting it in the front burner of the country’s socio-economic life.
