The Cabinet, on Tuesday, approved measures to support the E-Government program in order to enhance services offered to citizens.
The E-government project is designed to make the government more responsive in providing services addressing citizens' needs through automated procedures as well as providing effective and quick service, which would save people time and effort in a just and fair manner.
In a meeting headed by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, the Council of Ministers also approved a governance prototype for the E-Government project, setting up a steering committee for the purpose, comprising ministers concerned, as well as information technology executives in government institutions.
The E-Government project includes launching 20 e-services through a comprehensive interconnecting system between ministries and departments, and providing government services through mobile phones that will help inquire about transactions and services at various government departments.
