Transforming Government since 2001
The renewal of road licences online is at present not available through the Malta Transport Authority’s website, because this site does not link up with the site to process these applications.

The Malta Independent last week reported that more than a quarter of the road licences which had to be renewed in November and which did not need a VRT certificate, had been renewed online, through the online renewal facility offered by the Malta Transport Authority.

But people who read the story and tried to renew their road licence, called TMID, saying that facility through the Malta Transport Authority website was not available.

People were clicking on motor vehicles, licensing and online renewals, but were welcomed with a note saying: “As part of the e-government project, the general public will shortly be able to renew their vehicle road licences online. The service is expected to be online in the very near future.”

The vehicle road licences online service through the government’s website www.gov.mt is also unavailable due to maintenance.

To renew their road licences, users must click on a scrolling advert on the top of the page of the Malta Transport Authority website www.maltatransport.com. This will automatically link users to another website which is in turn linked to the eVERA system used to renew road licences.

This website is: https://secure.gov.mt/vera/public/default.asp.

A spokesman for the Roads and Urban Development Ministry said the problem is most probably due to a broken link which does not link users to the eVERA system.
