Serbian Minister for Telecommunications and Information Society Jasna Matic said today that the Serbian government will hold its first electronic session on June 11, adding that this will make public administration more efficient, transparent and cost effective.

At the presentation of the project “e-government” on the fourth day of the “Knowledge Factory”fair at ComTrade, Matic said that ministers are attending a short project training course and that on June 11 all material at the session will be in electronic format.

She said that from June 11 onwards paper will not be used at sessions at all, adding that ministers will receive all data in electronic form and will vote electronically.

The Minister said that the public and business people will be able to contact the government using electronic means.

Parallel to the introduction of e-government, the Ministry for Telecommunications is working on a project for introducing e-administration throughout Serbia, said Matic, adding that the implementation of the project began in January this year and is proceeding without problems.

ComTrade Director Veselin Jevrosimovic said that the introduction of the e-session will lead to big savings.

Telekom Srbija and PTT Srbija are taking part in the project of e-administration and e-government sessions and the project is being headed by the company ComTrade.
