Minister of Health Zoran Stankovic said today, opening a two-day regional conference dedicated to quality and certification of electronic health records (EHR) and an annual conference of the EuroRec Institute that the development of the information system is important for progress in health care.

Stankovic announced the completion of the first "informatisation operation" of the health sector by 2015.

He recalled that the development of the information health system in Serbia is carried out in line with the strategic commitment of the Ministry and implementation of the “E-Health 2012” document harmonised with European standards and regulations of the relevant institutions.

All health care institutions will be linked into the integrated information system, he said.

Apart from representatives of the competent Ministry, the conference was attended by officials of institutions and projects in over 20 countries of Central and Southeastern Europe, the European Commission, national EuroRec institutes, IHE projects, representatives of local health services, certification bodies, European research centres and IT companies.

The regional conference "Quality Labelling and Certification of EHR systems" is organised by the Ministry of Health and the EuroRec Institute, with the support of national associations - "ProRec" – Serbia and Slovenia and EHR-Q-TN European project.

The organisation of the conference, at which the participants will present their experiences and acquire new knowledge in the field of EHR systems, has been supported under the project of the Ministry of Health "Development of Health Sector of Serbia - Additional Financing", which is funded by a World Bank loan.
