Updating the information systems is one of the major objectives of the ministry, said Dr. Ali Al-Fodari, the advisor of the undersecretary of the ministry, in a statement on the occasion of his participation along with other officials of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health at the e-government services conference that got underway here yesterday -- also with participation of officials from various Kuwaiti departments.
Kuwait, like other states of the world, has adopted the e-government programs to facilitate work and contacts among the public sectors, he said, adding that the Kuwaiti participation in the convention was aimed at studying the experience of Singapore in the employment of technology in the health field.
The Ministry of Health of Kuwait is seeking to set up an integrated electronic communication network to link up all sectors and departments of the ministry including hospitals, medical centers and clinics, said Dr. Al-Fodari.
The MoH has already begun applying the e-files system for preliminary health care and plans to expand it to incorporate the engineering sector, the citizen's service, the e-communication and the work shifts system.
On Saturday, Chairperson of board of directors of New Frontiers company Dr. Orooba Watar announced participation of the Kuwaiti delegation representing various government bodies in the e-government services conference held here. She added in remarks to (KUNA) that the conference aimed at presenting the experience of the e-government of offering better electronic services in order to promote the development of the countries.
The gathering also aims at discussing plans and notions for improving the e-government services, in comparison with the successful experience in this field in Singapore, Watar noted.
She added that participants would involve in a number of field trips to senior institutions and ministries in Singapore, with high experience in the field of e-government services.
