‘392,000 hit site in 4 months’

The total amount paid by electronic payment service (tasdeed) through the Kuwait government portal came to about KD 16 million for 2010 and 2011, revealed Director of e-government gate at the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) Dr Ittihad Al-Bahar on Thursday.

In statements to KUNA, Al-Bahar estimated the number of transactions carried out through (tasdeed) service for the same period at 261,198.

Data showed that the total amounts paid since the beginning of 2012 to the end of April were KD 1.3 million, through 52,403 processes, she said.

She pointed out the number of new visitors to the site about 392,000 in the past four months. Within the framework of the efforts to provide the largest number of services via the official website of the state, CAIT will add a new service for people with special needs, Al-Bahar unveiled.

She added that the gate has launched its services through different social networking sites (Twitter, Facebook and YouTube) to better communicate with residents and citizens.

The Kuwait e-gate (www.e.gov.kw) can serve as a one-stop solution for all citizens, residents, business people, and governmental bodies to seek more than 474 e-governmental services around the clock.

It provides services under three categories; services directed at citizens and residents, at businessmen, and other visitors of the page. It gives access to e-services from 39 different governmental bodies.

Each of these main three sectors is also divided into three sub-categories. The first one is “Information Services” which saves visitors time and effort by providing all necessary information, such as the name of the service and a description of it, required paperwork, procedures, fees, and online application forms.

The second category is “e-services” where visitors can look up their personal data at all governmental bodies and directly find the needed information. It also allows visitors to inquire about renewal date for civil IDs, traffic violation tickets and court cases.

Meanwhile, the third category is “ministries” where visitors can easily reach any ministry and get familiarized with its services and all related government bodies.

The e-gate also provides information on Kuwait’s culture, tourist attractions, health services at all medical centers and hospitals in the country. It also offers reports on weather conditions, reports main news, provides aviation information, and lists currency exchange rates.
