Kuwait won three prizes at the 4th GCC e-Government Award, Conference and Exhibition 2015, it was learned here on Wednesday.

One of the prizes went to Kuwait's National Assembly General Secretariat for having the best public interaction with its legislative portal which is called Take an Active Part in Legislation.


Kuwait's Ministry of Interior won a prize for the best app that is available for those who use smart phones. Director of the IT department at the ministry Ali Almuaili told KUNA the prize demonstrated the ministry's dedication to offer its multiple services to the public with the ease of using an app on one's smart phone.

The third prize went to Kuwait's Central Apparatus for Information Technology for the best joint electronic project.

The GCC e-Government Award, Conference and Exhibition is held once every two years in one of the GCC states. It was first hosted in the Sultanate of Oman in 2009, followed by Kuwait in 2011, then United Arab Emirates in 2013.

The award is considered as a tool in encouraging and promoting positive competition among countries to present the best services for users. The conference is also weighted as a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences amongst participating countries as well as execute strategies and programs related to e-Government.

Moreover, it is measured as a tool to enrich mutual relations amongst countries as well as cooperatively contribute in setting future developments that aim at advancing joint GCC initiatives so as to serve citizens of this region.
