Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan said on Thursday that Vietnam is looking forward to building an effective e-government in the next five years, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

Nhan made the remarks at a meeting held in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday to discuss the building of an effective e-government of Vietnam. The meeting drew participation of officials and representatives from local and foreign associations and companies.

Vietnam will promote public-private partnership in building e- government, said Nhan.

The country will also rank 63 localities annually concerning the application of information technology in the activities of local authorities and contribution to the construction of e- government, he said.

At the meeting, participants discussed a wide range of issues including the simplification of administrative procedures, the application of information technology in activities of state agencies and public-private partnership for e-government development.
