Da Nang was honoured with the Viet Nam Smart City Award 2021 at the national awards ceremony held the capital city of Ha Noi on Saturday. This is the second time that Da Nang has won this prestigious award.

In addition to the aforementioned noticeable award, Da Nang picked up three other prizes in the categories: smart management, smart health and smart, green and clean environmental management.

According to Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Information and Communications Tran Ngoc Thach, receiving the award twice has confirmed a fact that the city has developed appropriate orientations, strategies and a roadmap with more confidence and motivation to continue its ambitious journey of turning itself into a smart city with remarkable digital transformation strides.

Da Nang is now remaining resilient on its strong feet to realise is ambition of becoming the first in Viet Nam to join the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) by 2030 under the Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2019 adopted by the Politburo on building and developing Da Nang by 2030, with a vision towards 2045,

Organised by the Viet Nam Association for Software and IT Services (VINASA), the annual prestigious award aims to promote the building of smart cities across the country and create a driving force to promote technological applications in parallel with innovations in mechanisms and policies.

This year’s event was launched on June 30, 2021. After more than two months of taking place, despite the complicated developments of COVID-19, the organisers still received 98 nominations from 62 agencies and businesses.

A total of 45 awards were given out, of which nine were for 4 cities/provinces and the remaining 36 went to digital solutions in service for smart city building.
