This came at the 5th Round of the E-government Excellence Awards, member of the Pan-Arab Excellence Awards Academy. The award is offered by the Dubai-based Arab Organization for Social Responsibility and the Academy of Online Awards in the Arab region.

During a ceremony held at Al Busan Rotana Hotel, Dubai, on Tuesday, Hussain Salatt, Public Relations and Communications Section Manager, Public Relations & Communications Department at the ICT Ministry received the Certificate of Excellence.

"We are happy with the award, which signalizes the uniqueness of the ICT Ministry's website that is rich with Arabic and English content such as the Ministry's programs, ICT policies, public consultations, relevant laws and regulations, as well as periodical studies, researches and reports," said Salatt.

"Our website also features easily navigable heads and sub-heads that display the official documents, the national ICT strategies and blueprints in addition to audiovisual coverage of the Ministry's activities, in compliance with the principle of transparency and openness," he added.

With high technical and editorial quality and supportive of all social media platforms, www.ictqatar.qa ictQATAR's website fully complies with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Level AA accessibility standards and is compatible with all screen readers.

The website is easy to use and browse on any device and is supported by a multi-task, multiple-category search engine that makes it easier for users to get direct services, quick results and go beyond just browsing the site for information.

The website also features key programs and initiatives initiated and implemented by the Ministry such as Qatar Assistive Technology Center (Mada), Qatar e-Government Portal (Hukoomi), TumuhaTEC, Creative Commons Qatar and Digital Qatar blog. These portals provide content in Arabic and English.

The ceremony included winners from UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Egypt, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Lebanon and was attended by high-profile officials from the UAE and the Arab world as well as representatives from Arab public and private sectors.

The E-government Excellence Awards aims to recognize and appreciate the efforts of the Arab governments for adopting the best Web standards and practices on their websites and social media networks for more effective, open and transparent interaction with the populace, building bridges between people and state institutions.
