The County Government of Uasin Gishu on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with I-Tech (Kenya) in a move to support the automation of heath services (E-Heath) in the county.

Speaking at the county headquarters in Eldoret town during the signing of the MoU, the County Health CeC Margaret Chepkwony said the partnership was to help in improving health services to the public.

“The program will greatly improve our service delivery through enhanced record keeping in our facilities,” said Chepkwony.

According to the county ICT and e-Government CeC Barnabas Sang, health services was part of the county's Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2013-2018 where automation of health services was prioritised.

Sang advised the health department staffs to consider learning more on the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) so as to improve on the health services standards and put it in a place that it could be emulated countrywide.

Also, I-Tech country director Dr Willis Akhwale said his team was to provide technical assistance for the systems to pick up new integrations.
