Azerbaijan’s Communications and Information Technologies Ministry has held a forum discussing use of Latvia’s experience in implementation of E-Government State Program.

Azerbaijan’s Minister for Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov and Latvian’s Minister for Special Assignments for Electronic Government Affairs Ina Gudele had discussions over cooperation in establishment of E-Government in Azerbaijan and joint ICT projects.

The World Bank's Board of Executive Directors approved a US$ 30 million IBRD loan for the Real Estate Registration Project for the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The objective of the project is to ensure a reliable, transparent and efficient real estate registration system to improve both the legal security for real estate and the management and use of State-owned immovable property in the country.

The World Bank will set aside $30 mln to implement the e-government projects in Azerbaijan within 2007, Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies said.

The initiative will be realized through the agreement signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and International Development Association (IDA).

The World Bank and Korea will pledge $30m to assist Azerbaijan in creating electronic government (e-gov), Azerbaijan Minister of Communication and Information Technologies, Ali Abbasov, told AzerTAc reporter.

Knowledge creation and transfer on e-governance and e-democracy is one of the main objectives of the Regional e-Government Training and Resource Centre that was launched last week in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku.

The project, under which the Centre was created, is one of UNESCO’s and UNDP’s collective efforts to support the implementation of the Azerbaijan Government commitments made during a recent visit of the Director-General of UNESCO to this country.
