Azerbaijan has started issuance of mobile authentication certificates for mobile devices, APA-Economics reports citing ICT Ministry.

The Mobile Certificate Center launched its activity on February 1. The Center has already started to issue mobile authentication certificates for use in mobile devices and tablet computers.

Thus, first applications for obtaining certificates were already received. Within the framework of a pilot project, citizens can apply to the central registration points to obtain certificates. Currently, technical and organizational work is being carried out in other registration points and after the completion of this work citizens may be able to use services at these points.

Besides that, work is under way to prepare e-appeal form for obtaining mobile ID. So, citizens having e-signature certificates will be able to obtain certificates of mobile authentication without coming to registration points.

Users may access to e-government portal (www.e-gov.az), as well as to other service sites by using mobile devices loaded with Mobile ID.

It should be noted that in accordance with the legislation on electronic signature, Mobile Authentication Certificate Center received a certificate from the Higher Certificate Center.

In view of technical capabilities of mobile devices, authentication certificates may be downloaded on devices running following platforms:

  • Apple IOS 5.0 and higher versions (iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, 5 / iPad 1, 2, 3, 4, mini / iPod Touch 3, 4, 5);

  • Android 4.0 and higher versions (HTC, Samsung, LG, Acer, Sony);

  • Symbian S60 OS and higher versions;

  • Windows Phone 7.0 and 7.5 platforms (Windows Phone 8.0 has not passed test completely);

  • BlackBerry 6.0 OS and higher versions (for digital certificates of mobile devices SSL client configuration identification is downloaded through program BlackBerry Desktop Manager).
