Syria and Lebanon discussed on Monday the necessary mechanisms for implementing a unified strategy for regional and international communications networking, in addition to evaluating the current state of networking and exchanging expertise.

During the meeting of the Syrian-Lebanese Communications Committee, Syrian Minister of Communications and Technology Imad Sabouni underlined the importance of exchanging ideas, coordinating and implementing a joint strategy to improve communications services in light of the rapid developments in this field.

In turn, Lebanese Minister of Communications Sharbel Nahhas expressed his country's desire to discuss issues of mutual interest, particularly regarding exchanging expertise and networking between Syria and Lebanon to benefit from their geographic location to improve their communications services and capabilities.

For his part, Secretary General of the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Council Nassri Khouri called for pioneering relations between the two countries' ministries of communications and for continuing to hold meetings of specialized committees.

The meeting reviewed the state of communications in each country, with both sides expressing desire to implement a unified strategy for regional and international networking and cooperation in the fields of developing land marine cables connecting the two countries.

They also stressed the need for exchanging studies, expertise and information in regulating the communications and information sectors, bandwidth management, e-commerce legislations, e-government, e-signature and internet applications.
