In a statement to SANA, the head of the E-Government Initiative Executive Team, Assistant Minister of Communications and Technology Ahmad Basel al-Kheshi said that the e-government portal will provide 22 services immediately upon its launch, with further services being provided once they're ready.
The Assistant Minister said the services will be provided through telephones, mobile phones, the internet and citizen service centers, adding that the time needed for completing the portal is one year and five months.
He pointed out that the portal's services include services of the Ministry of Interior such as personal justice registry records, noting that the daily demand for these documents amounts to 8,000 per day.
Other Ministry of Interior documents that will be provided include personal, family and birth registry records.
The portal will provide eight services from Homs City Council including certified copies of building permits, organizational plans and leases, in addition to providing information on infringements, personal and real-estate financial quittance certificates, among other services.
The Ministry of Interior will provide services related to vehicles such as the results of driving tests, while the Ministry of Health will provide services related to correspondence forms of pharmaceutical factories, searching for health facilities, and admission results for resident physicians.
The Ministry of Agriculture will offer the service of inquiring about the agricultural secondary school results and rain forecasts, while the Ministry of Economy and Trade offers the services of searching for trademarks and the electronic payment service.
Al-Kheshi added that his Ministry set up an inventory website for governmental services at egov.sy which was made available for all governmental bodies.
''1200 services were registered on the website, 846 of which have completed the necessary paperwork,'' he added.
The Ministry of Communications and Technology announced a tender in May 12, 2010 for carrying out and operating the e-government portal and training members from the Ministry to run it.
