Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdullah al-Dardari on Wednesday underlined the importance of using business intelligence in the strategic planning to improve the governmental and private services in the framework of the 11th five-year plan.

The remarks came during a workshop held at the Cabinet's Headquarters on the scientific tools for the project of modernizing administration in Syria based on applying the techniques and systems of business intelligence, in addition to means of supporting decision on various levels.

Al-Dardari underlined the importance of modernizing the administrative measures to enable the citizens to finish all the transactions without any burdens, in addition to achieving the institutional and administrative reform which is considered the first item on the agenda of the next five-year plan.

He also called for achieving a qualitative leap with regard to achieving significant investments over the next five years in a way that would reflect positively on the services provided for the citizens.

Minister of Communications and Technology Emad Sabbouni said the project of e-government is one of the tools used for developing the administrative systems and facilitating the services provided for citizens.

Minister Sabbouni added that the governmental initiative works on various tracks such as the administrative development and training and qualifying the cadres who provide the services, underlying the importance of providing the technological basis for achieving the aspired-for goals.

He indicated that launching the first trial website constitutes an indispensable basis for developing the services provided for the citizens and the business sector, adding that the website provides information about 700 services.
