The new system, which is a platform for customised solutions that addresses the needs of medium and large organisations, was developed according to the wishes and requirements of workers and IT specialists of Bregenz city council. The service level of the system will continue to be improved.
The cost of the new OS-based system was only half as high as the costs of competing telephone systems. Because it is OS, the license costs are massively reduced. In addition, the new system has been designed in accordance with the particular requirements of a municipal telephone system.
Immediately after the introduction of the new system, the IT department reported significant savings in the management and maintenance costs. The City of Begrenz saved on phone costs alone around €10 000 during the first year. The maintenance costs of around €30 000 a year were reduced to one sixth. A few thousand euros were also saved on the basic charges.
