The municipality's IT operations bring benefits both to businesses and the general public. This requires that electronic services, systems and digital information become useful to users, by being efficient, user friendly, reliable and available.
“We will continue developing eServices that meet citizens’ demands for a greater dialogue with the municipality and that ensure better quality services. One of our starting points is that digital services should be the norm in the dialogue among citizens, elected officials and employees. Of course, we will also continue to support people without access to IT”, said a Councillor of Uppsala, Stefan Hanna.
The IT policy is an overall policy document of Uppsala municipality, which outlines IT use and development in the municipality. The policy is supplemented by guidelines to clarify and illustrate the areas in which governance should exist, so that cost-effectiveness, security and flexibility can be achieved. The revised instructions relating to security policy show that information security is particularly emphasised.
Within the municipality, information management and information systems are key assets that contribute to greater transparency, efficiency and development. At a local level, the IT operations are managed by the municipality board. The municipality’s IT operations comply with the requirements laid by the general operational policy. On the one hand, common regulatory grounds set by the municipality govern IT use in committees and boards; whereas, on the other hand, each committee and board is responsible for their operation-specific systems.
