The government of South Sudan has announced the introduction of e-government services as part of its drive to tackle graft and ensure efficiency, APA has learnt.The initiative is in the form of a partnership between the Ministry of Information, Communication, Technology and Postal Services and Crawford Capital.

The raionale behind the e-government services is to strike a balance between economic objective ad health exigencies amid a coronavirus pandemic which is changing the way governments operate.

South Sudan is hopeful that the world’s newest country can benefit from a new e-government pan-African project that aims to boost tele-education and tele-medicine.

The new Pan-Africa e-Network Project is being funded by the Indian government and aims to develop numerous projects using technology and e-government as the basis for infrastructure development across the African continent.

Vimal Wakhlu, MD for Telecommunication Consultants India (TCIL), said in a press statement over the weekend that “equipment for the project has already been dispatched to South Sudan for installation.”

The government of the semi autonomous region of South Sudan on Tuesday said it is adopting electronic public finance management to seal graft avenues.

Speaking to reporters at the premises of the ministry of finance and economic planning in Juba, Salvatore Garang Mabiordit, the under secretary in the ministry of finance announced launching public finance management system under a project called e-government.

Mabiordit said the government is currently taking all its top and middle level civil service leaders through electronic systems on public management. He further added that successful implementation of the project would mark part of what he called the gradual shift towards e-government and increased internet use in the delivery of public services.
