The Holyrood e-petitions system allows members of the public to send in petitions to politicians online rather than using sheets of paper. It has now been nominated for a special award which recognises the best use of the internet by governments.
It is a finalist in the service use category of the eEurope Awards for eGovernment.
The system has already proved a hit, with the German Parliament announcing earlier this year that it was setting up its own version based on the Holyrood model. And it was also praised at an event held by the European Parliament's Research Initiative in Brussels.
Convener Michael McMahon said:
"This nomination reflects the willingness of the parliament to embrace innovative techniques to enhance the democratic process."
The winners will be announced at the Ministerial eGovernment Conference in Manchester next month.
