Intellect is running a professionalism programme to try to embed IT professionalism within all aspects of the supply chain. The programme is being developed in conjunction with the eGovernment Unit, major.
Intellect director Nick Kalisperas said, “Together with other Intellect initiatives, such as the IT supplier code of best practice, concept viability and the senior responsible industry executive, this new programme of activity represents another important step for the industry.
“It demonstrates the industry's maturity and responsibility to customers and the wider stakeholder community. We believe this programme will generate significant long-term benefits for all involved in project and programme delivery.”
Stephen Darvill, chair of Intellect's working group on professionalism, said, “ICT is at the heart of so many aspects of life. It is therefore essential that the thousands of UK supplier businesses are managed to tight professional standards.
“It is in the interests of suppliers and users of ICT services that we have a common set of standards for defining and measuring the professionalism of ICT supply organisations. Through Intellect, large and small ICT supply companies have come together to define and agree those common standards.”
Intellect has 1,000 member companies. The organisation's professionalism paper can be accessed here.
