Transforming Government since 2001
More than a million users have logged onto Swansea Council website in less than a year.

New figures show 1,008,585 users accessed the website during the nine months between April and December 2006.

With a further three months remaining, last year's visitor figures will be dwarfed. In 2005/6, the total number of website visitors stood at 852,879.

The rising number of visitors demonstrates the increasing popularity of the website and the number of people now seeking information and services on-line.

And the most popular pages are:

Jobs and Careers, Leisure and Tourism, What's On, Environment, Online Services, Planning, Libraries, Housing, Grand Theatre and Dylan Thomas.

Mary Jones, the Council's Cabinet Member for eGovernment and Top Performance, said, "We have taken huge strides in improving our website so that visitors can access more information and services quickly and effectively.

"The number of visitors during the first nine months of this year is staggering. This clearly shows that our investment in eGovernment and improving web-based services is needed in order to meet the demands of our customers.

"We will continue to improve the Council's website so that even more people can contact the Council and access our services on-line."
