Transforming Government since 2001
Another step towards becoming a 24/7 council has been taken at Sutton where all council tax and business rates accounts can now be viewed online.

As well as being able to contact the council 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by phone, email or via its website www.sutton.gov.uk, this new service is now available.

The new online account system also gives information on council tax exemptions and benefits and how to pay bills in instalments through regular direct debit payments.

Payments can also be made by credit or debit card, and anyone wanting to pay can simply click on the online box on the web page where payments can be made.

Specialist supplier Gandlake, which provides online services for many local authorities, has set up Sutton's latest service.

Lead member for e-government Colin Hall said: "I am sure our residents and businesses will appreciate the convenience of this new online service. The council is doing all it can to make its services as accessible and efficient as possible, and by communicating via the web we are able to give a speedier and better service."

A payment phone line, 020 8770 7887, gives the option of paying via a quick phone call.
