IDA International Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IDA Singapore, is a new company has been set up to help export Singapore Public Service Infocomm solutions.
It is set up to meet the increasing requests and interests from foreign governments to implement public service infocomm solutions, and will serve as the primary execution arm for collaborations with overseas public sector agencies.
Some of the services offered by IDA International include national infocomm planning and e-Government consultancy. In doing so, it aims to create business opportunities for Singapore infocomm companies to export their expertise, products and solutions.
The Singapore companies will also stand to gain a deeper and broader understanding of global Infocomm developments and developed skilled resources necessary for the ongoing development of Singapore’s own capabilities.
Seah Chin Siong, CEO of IDA International, said there are many countries today that can benefit from Singapore’s ICT experience and expertise. “Singapore is in a unique position to assist these countries in areas such as National Infocomm planning, Government Chief Information Office (GCIO) capability development, ICT Industry development and human capital development amongst others,” he added.
Singapore has close to 30 years of experience in implementing infocomm solutions in the public sector and it has made the country one of the e-Government leaders in the world.
With the accumulated experience and capabilities, it puts Singapore in good stead to share its experience on delivering services to better socio-economic outcomes through infocomm.
IDA International is involving local industry partners in its foreign engagements (with the foreign governments). To date, teaming agreements have been sealed with local companies such as NCS, ST Electronics (Info-Software Systems), Infowave, Eucharist, SQLView, Ecquaria Technologies, Netrust and Elixir.
According to Ms Tan Yen Yen, Chairman of Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF): “The idea for a greater push in internationalisation was first mooted during an industry dialogue session with MICA in 2007.
IDA International can help us internationalise our local ICT industry by leveraging on Singapore’s eGov and public sector infocomm success.”
