Transforming Government since 2001

12 public sector organisations recognised in FutureGov Singapore Awards ceremony.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority won ‘Government Organisation of the Year’ for its ‘Biometric Identification of MotorBikers’ project [pictured: the ICA team celebrating their success after the end of the award] - capping this year’s FutureGov Singapore Awards event, as more than 150 executives attended the awards ceremony at the Raffles Hotel earlier this week.

Chan Cheow Hoe, Deputy Chief Executive and Government Chief Information Officer at the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) opened up proceedings. Chan highlighted the importance of recognising the behind-the-scenes work of civil servants to meet changing user needs, with more emphasis on projects with clearly-circumscribed scope, and faster development cycles.

James Smith, Managing Editor of FutureGov, and Chairman of the Judging Committee, told the assembled civil servants “in an era of eroding trust in institutions around the world, the work of Singapore’s civil servants has never been more important to maintain public confidence. At the same time, this work has never been more challenging - as service expectations change dramatically, along with the technology tools and security threat environment.”

The event featured invited speakers from around the world - including Paul Kruspe, Assistant Commissioner of the Australian Taxation Office, Elizabeth Gardiner, Parliamentary Counsel, Cabinet Office in the United Kingdom, and Annika Brandstrom, Chairman of Sweden’s eGovernment Delegation, and Director-General of Swedish Companies Registration Office.

Companies attending the FutureGov Singapore Awards included Sitecore, AdNovum, Visa, Pacific Tech and eG Innovations.
